Morogoro, Tanzania | August 16, 2026 – The East African Development Bank (EADB) has been unveiled as the Sponsor of the 23rd Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games, committing USD 90,000 towards the successful organization of East Africa’s premier school sports championship.
The announcement was made during the official opening ceremony of the games currently underway in Morogoro, Tanzania, where 413 teams and 5,548 participants from across East Africa are competing in 51 sporting disciplines.
As the Sponsor of the 2026 edition, EADB’s investment will support key aspects of the championship, including the production of medals and trophies, as well as the provision of playing kits for finalists.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, EADB Country Manager Stephen Wambura emphasized the Bank’s commitment to supporting youth development and regional integration through sport.
“While our core mandate is financing development projects across key sectors of the economy, we recognize that sustainable development also means investing in people, especially young people who represent the future of our region. Through this partnership with FEASSA, we are supporting the development of the next generation of East African leaders.”

Mr. Wambura noted that sports sponsorship remains a key pillar of EADB’s Corporate Social Initiatives agenda because of the transformative role sports play in shaping character, promoting healthy lifestyles, and creating opportunities for young people.
The partnership marks a significant milestone for FEASSA and reinforces the growing value of school sports as a platform for talent identification, education, leadership development, and regional cooperation.
FEASSA President Justus Mugisha welcomed the sponsorship, describing it as a strong vote of confidence in the federation’s efforts to use sport as a tool for empowering young people across East Africa.

The 23rd FEASSA Games have brought together student-athletes from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, and Zanzibar, creating a unique platform for competition, friendship, cultural exchange, and regional unity.
The partnership between FEASSA and EADB is expected to enhance the overall experience for participants while contributing to the continued growth and sustainability of school sports in the region.
The games will conclude on 22 August 2026, with champions crowned across all disciplines and the overall winning nation(s) for Primary, Secondary and Special Needs Education recognized.
